Freeware is software which is distributed free of charge for personal use.
The Retirement Forecaster program was written by me because I wanted a tool to help me plan for my own retirement. When the Internet became popular, I decided to make the program available to others through a Web site. Now that I'm retired, programming is a hobby and I work on the Retirement Forecaster program and its Web site as a way to keep up with the latest software technology.
Although it is available for free, I retain the copyright, which means that it cannot be altered or sold.
The program is distributed free with the condition that it not be used for commercial purposes. To discourage commercial use, there is a limit to the number of Forecaster plan files that are allowed to be saved.
The free personal user version of Forecaster limits the number of plan files that can be saved. The limit is 10 files. If you try to save the 11th file, the program will ask you to delete one of the other 10 files before allowing the new file to be saved. If anyone has a need for more than 10 files, please contact me.
The program is distributed free, however it is unsupported. That's the nature of free software. But if you find an error, and you can e-mail an explaination or a plan file that demonstrates the error, then the problem will receive my attention. So please submit errors, and they will be fixed. If posible, please send me a plan file the shows the problem.
Also the new Retirement Forecaster release includes this Web site and the software downloading and updating operations. So feel free to report problems with these also.
