Introduction
You are allowed to drag objects that you have created, i.e. your assets and their instructions. You are not allowed to drag the nodes that define the type of asset or the type of instruction.
You can drag any tree view instruction node using the left hand button for a move, and the right hand button for a copy.
Copy Plan Instructions From One Plan Account To Another Plan Account
There may
be a time when you want to move one or more
instructions from one account to another account. For instance, a planned
series of transfers may have to be done from some other account than
the one originally used. In this case, the drag and drop to copy
operation can be used instead of having to type in all the transfer
data again.
A drag and drop to copy is accomplished by using the right mouse button. Use the right mouse button to click on the tree view node of any instruction and drag it to another asset node or to a similar instruction parent node. You can drag and copy to a corresponding parent node for the instruction in another asset, or to the asset itself if no corresponding instructions exist yet in the destination.
When you drop the instruction node (by lifting you finger from the right hand mouse button), a data entry window is opened with the data filled in from the source instruction. Just click "Finish" if there are no changes to make. Any errors will be caught at this time.
You have to manually delete the source instruction if you want to move it rather than copy it.
Move Instructions To Re-Sequence The Execution Of Instructions
The execution sequence of instructions is determined by the instruction's relative location in the tree view of the plan.
To change the execution sequence, you change the relative locations of instructions on the tree view. To do this you drag and drop an instruction node to a new position. You drop onto the node that is the one you want the dragged node to go behind. You can drop on the top node, the one defining the items, in order to put the dropped node into first place. You can drop on the last node to put the dropped node into last place.
The priority of transactions is the sequence in which the nodes are displayed. So repositioning instructions could affect financial results (maybe). All instruction transactions are handled in a batch for each asset. So it should not make a difference if you do a 10,000 transfer followed by a 5,000 transfer, or a 5,000 transfer followed by a 10,000 transfer. Unless there is less than 15,000 in the account.
Re-Sequence Transfer Instructions
You can specify the transfer amount by a percentage rate. This rate is applied to the beginning balance, the percentage is withdrawn and then any taxes due because of the transfer are deducted before the resulting amount is delivered to the destination account.
If there is more than one transfer instruction for this account, then each transfer instruction is examined in the sequence shown in the tree view to calculate the transfer amount. Each calculation of the transfer amount is done based on the specified amount or percentage rate. Percentage rates are applied to the beginning balance,
Re-Sequence Beneficiary Instructions
If there is more than one beneficiary for this account, then each one should be assigned either an amount or a percentage value. The beneficiary instructions are examined in the sequence shown in the tree view when calculating the bequeathed amount for each one. Each calculation of the benefit amount is done based on the specified amount or percentage rate. Percentage rates are applied to the beginning balance,
For example, if you want two beneficiaries to share equally in the final balance of the account, then you would specify that each beneficiary with get 50%.
Move Sweep Balance Instructions
There are situations that require transfering a fixed amount and then trying to transfer the reminder. Take, for instance, a joint trust terminating after the first to die. The balance at that time depends on the earnings and taxes. The desired beneficiary payments are 1.000,000 to a family trust and any remaining balance to a martial deduction trust. For situations such as these, a instruction parameter named "Sweep Balance" is available. Specify this for the last instruction in a sequence when you want to transfer whatever balance remains, taking the final balance to zero. (See: example- estate planning with trusts.frc)
Use the drag and drop capability to re-arrange the sequence of instructions to place the Sweep Balance instruction in last place.
